Here are a few photos to get me caught up to the end of February. The kids are adjusting beautifully to our new family of five. Obviously we have our bumpy moments, but overall it's been incredible!
Dr. Sam and Fireman Aidan attending to their little sister who happily follows them about the house in her squeaky shoes. As long as she shares, they seem to be happy as clams. (Such an odd expression. Someone should interview clams and figure out their secret.)
Juni did go to her first pediatrician's visit during the middle of February. She was a trooper but none to thrilled to have the doctor, who happens to be a wonderful man with decades of experience and international adoption expertise, looking her over and checking all her parts. We also had to start anew with her immunizations and do blood work to test her iron and lead levels as well as titers on all her previous immunizations. It was a rough day at both the pediatricians and at the hospital lab. They poked each limb as well as one foot. After she had had the first round of immunizations in both legs at the pediatricians office, we went to the hospital to have blood drawn. When the nurses were trying to take the blood, they couldn't get the vein in her left arm and wiggled the needle about like crazy. Juni was tightly bundled and screaming her head off. At one point, she just looked at me sobbing "mama, mama" over and over again and I felt like I was betraying this fragile trust we had built over the past several weeks. It broke my heart and I wanted to throttle the nurse. Finally she gave up and went for the other arm. After all this was over, she realized that she had forgotten to get enough for a cdc panel and had to draw blood from her foot. I can't wait to return in May for round two. Good news is, she doesn't have Hep B, etc, her iron levels were fine and she did not test positive for HIV. All in all, she is healthy and happy when not being poked.
I'm pretty sure we were playing a chinese kids's song on youtube during this shot. There's this one song, that she adores and every time I put it on, she laughs aloud and claps her hands in joy.
Random shot of Juni just hangin' in the playroom.
One of the unexpected games in our house is to push Juni around in the dump truck at breakneck speeds. The boys zoom her all over the place and she adores it. Sometimes they sit across the room from each other and just roll her back and forth. Who am I to butt in? Mommy gets to sit back once and awhile, sipping her cup of tea (seriously, it's tea... most of the time) and marvel at our crazy luck of having three lovely kids.
Oh, I forgot to mention the other utilitarian use of the truck. Juni does not seem as enamored with the dumping capabilities of the vehicle.
Random shot of Sam being Wallace from Wallace and Gromit.
I don't remember what Steve was doing to entertain at this moment but the kids were cracking up!
Whenever Steve comes home from work, it is a big event. The kids are so happy to see him and they usually rush him at the door with invites to play and stories of the day.
Here, for some unknown reason, Sam decided to moon Steve thinking this was the funniest thing on earth.
He got turned upside down for his mischief which produced peels of laughter from all the kids.
One of the downsides to having a new baby is that I missed Sam's first day of skiing. Aidan, Grampie, Steve and Sam took off up the mountain one sunny day a few weeks back while Nana, Juni and I played shuttle service. Apparently, I didn't miss much and Sam liked to be thrown in the air by Steve more than he liked skiing down the bunny hill. I can't wait til next season, when hopefully all three kids will be zooming down the hill. I'm going to need extra arms. God help us!
Juni's new beautiful hat.
Our kind neighbors dropped off lovely presents for the kids and Juni became the owner of a gorgeous new flower hat. Just when I think she couldn't get any cuter....
So there you go. There's the latest update of the kids learning how to gel to the new family dynamic. I'm finally up to the March photos and I'm going to start shooting more with a real camera again. The point and shoot has been great for on-the-go shots but I feel like I miss a lot of moments due to lighting and shutter delay. It's a blast having three wee subjects flying about the place. Now if only the snow would melt so we can start exploring outside in the beautiful landscape we live in. Very excited to finally see some sun!
Rolypoly Pajama Time
I think Juni loves being a little sister and I'm guessing the boys are loving being big brothers too.
Love to you all!
